Edel McMahon is a graphic designer and illustrator based in the West of Ireland. With over 15 years of experience, Edel specialises in design and illustration for the Food and Hospitality Industry.

Design Background
Edel started my design studies in Athlone Institute of Technology. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Visual Communication in 2007, she worked as a graphic designer in Dublin for several years. On moving to Galway, Edel completed a BA in Fine Art (Painting) at GMIT. In 2018, she completed a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design at the University of Hertfordshire (UK).

Graphic Design
Edel is currently the in-house graphic designer for the EatGalway Restaurant group, which includes Aniar Restaurant, Cava Bodega and Food on the Edge, for over ten years. She also freelances for several companies, many of whom are also in the restaurant industry. In 2011, I obtained a WSET Level 2 in Wine and Spirits. This aids her to work closely with sommeliers and restaurant owners on the layout and structure of their menus.

Product Range
For the majority of her time as a designer, Edel has worked with clients in the food & restaurant industry. This has helped developed her passion for food, nature and local produce. She combined this passion with her love of illustration and Ii 2020, Edel launched her own Irish-made product range. Edel utilises bright colours and bold illustrations in all her products.

Many of my products illustrate the themes of food and nature, making those products ideal for inclusion on the shelves of cafés and restaurants with retail outlets. Her catalogue currently includes tea towels, aprons, prints and greeting cards. Visit her online shop to view these products.

Edel aims to expand her range further to create a variety of products. Follow Edel on social media: @edelmcmahondesign for updates.

Environment
Edel is passionate about preserving the environment and about supporting Irish jobs. All of her products are printed and produced in Ireland and, where possible, use recyclable material and/or biodegradable packaging.

Colour
Edel believes colour can bring joy into our lives. Her aim is to create products with bright & ‘happy’ colours. Of course, colour is subjective, her illustrations are a reflection of what she believes to be 'Happy Colours', which can brighten up our lives.

Membership
Edel is a registered member of the Design & Crafts Council Ireland and her products also feature as part of the Design Ireland Programme.
