36 Days of Type is a project that take place on Instagram (@36DaysofType). The project invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to express their particular interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet.
I have watched this project take place each year and enjoyed watching designers interpret the characters from the alphabet. I’m delighted I took part this year and completed the project.
For this project, I combined analogue letter with digital letterforms. I cut letterforms from newspaper. I was drawn to the idea of seeing type with the letterform. I photographed these letterforms. The shadows the letterforms created was important to the aesthetic and I enjoyed playing with natural and artificial lighting to create the shadow. I dissected the digital letterforms and combined them with the photographs to create the final letterforms.
